Up from the seaside and down from the hills, we're back from a summer that's been both classic and core.
Formally soaked in songs as we swim through oceans of recordings -- an EP in the fall will be followed by our next full-on, full-length album -- tentatively titled 'The Dark Leaves'.
Yes.
A show on August 30th at the Sant Feliu Fest in Girona, Spain. To begin at the end, and start autumn anew at the conclusion of the balmiest wicked season.
We'll spend weeks wandering the streets of Barcelona, smoking candy cigarettes, admiring Gaudí's work and drinking different air. From there we'll come back to New York to play the September 18th opening night of the Bell House in Brooklyn.
We're pleased as punch to have Eve Miller coming along for the ride -- perhaps even steering at times.
Pardon the updraft of sincerity (a scent known to cause nausea in some) but we truly appreciate your ears, your minds and your support. Please humor me in my late summer lightheaded-ness. Allow me to imagine us all as some sort of elite force of nature accompanied by an endless crescendo.
Apart and still together.
Yes.

7/29/08:
Big news, especially for our friends in SPAIN. matt pond PA is making their first-ever Spanish appearance on August 30 as part of the Sant Feliu Fest in Girona (about an hour from Barcelona)! This show is also noteworthy as it marks the first mpPA performance with cellist Eve Miller in many years. The band will be playing alongside indie stalwarts The Locust, Arcwelder, and Glorytellers (featuring Geoff Farina of Karate), plus loads of excellent Spanish indie bands!
I have been fielding calls and e-mails from nervous fans wondering about the status of matt pond PA. MATT POND PA HAS NOT BROKEN UP! In fact, the band is in the studio this summer working on new material, of which there is plenty! The band is doing all of their own recording and mixing this time around (guitarist/keyboardist Chris Hansen is a seasoned studio engineer), and the songs I have heard so far are bright, clear and gorgeous, if I may say so myself. If all goes according to plan, you can look for some new songs as early as this fall!
Don’t forget about the massive sale we’re having in the Altitude Records Store through July 31! Pick up all 12 mpPA CDs in our store for a measly 50 bucks! A pack of five posters including two on thick stock, hand-printed and signed by the artist (Jason Munn / The Small Stakes) for $15! All CDs are $8.99 or less and all T-shirts are $11.99 or less and going quick – in fact, one design completely sold out right after we announced the sale.
The point is, if you have ever wanted to expand your collection of mpPA stuff, this is definitely the time. And if you already own any of the CDs or posters in your package, it just means you’ll have a backup the next time you forget someone’s birthday! Go To The Store!
Finally, make sure to check out the new matt pond PA video for Last Light, directed by filmmaker Bryan Reisberg.
